Arsene Wenger's and other pro tips for being a professional footballer

Frank Arnesen, Hamburg's sporting director thinks this is what you need to reach top level:

  • You have to be technically good
  • Awareness. You have to see and understand what is going around you on the pitch.
  • Speed. Quick turns, quick thinking...
  • Passion. Especially in young age, you have to love to play. The will to use your potential.
Scouting guru, Damien Comolli's opinion

"First of all you look for a brain, you look for intelligence, then you look for technical ability, then you look for the physical aspect."

What does Arsene Wenger looks for?

  • At 14 to 16, you have to be physically at a top level to cope with the demands of professional football
  • At 16-18, you have to understand how to connect with other players on the pitch.
  • At 20, you have to be mentally focused. You have to cope with the the sacrifices a top player must make. This is the passion, Frank Arnesen talked about earlier.
